IT Service Operations Management

Without the ability to equate services with costs, it is practically impossible to quantify IT value to the bottom line of any organization. Yet, despite the importance now attached to IT, intense competitive and economic pressures on business are often reflected through corporate mandates to maintain, or even to decrease, their current IT budgets. As IT continues to grow in significance for most organizations, it is imperative that IT groups take a business- and service-oriented approach to operations rather than a technology-centric one.

Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) describes proven team structures and operational processes and applies the best information technology (IT) practices to improve the efficiency and quality of IT operations. It has its basis within the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), published by the United Kingdom's Office of Government Commerce (OGC), and extends ITIL through the inclusion of guidance and the best practices derived from the experience of Microsoft operations groups, partners, and customers.

The guidance is organized into two complementary and well-integrated frameworks:

  • Microsoft Operations Framework(MOF), and
  • Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF)

Within the overall IT lifecycle, MSF and MOF follow four basic steps to create a new solution or to change an existing solution and to operate a solution in a production environment; the steps are:

  • Plan the solution using MSF and MOF
  • Build the solution using MSF
  • Deploy the solution using MOF and MSF and
  • Operate the solution using MOF

bIT360, a Microsoft Gold Partner has developed exceptional expertise in MOF built upon the underlying frameworks of ITIL. Our team of business process specialists and Microsoft product engineers has developed scalable and modular methodologies to implement process model principles of both MOF and MSF for delivering and supporting IT services (specifically in Microsoft Shops) addressing the following principles:

  • Structured Architecture
  • Rapid Life Cycle Iterative Improvement
  • Review Driven Management and
  • Embedded Risk Management

bIT360 understands that organizations are increasingly dependent on IT to support and enhance the business processes required to meet their organizational and customer needs. We realize that in many cases, IT services form the basis for the entire business model; in these instances, IT does not merely support the business -it is the business.  IT service management is concerned with delivering and supporting IT services that are implemented in direct response to the organization's business requirements and this is where bIT360 can assist you. Whether you are a small or medium sized business, or a large enterprise, we know how important it is for you that your IT services support core business activities and facilitate change as businesses evolve and compete in a global marketplace - adapting the best practices' frameworks is the only way to accomplish this objective and bIT360 can help you do it.
